江南有丹橘，
经冬犹绿林。
岂伊地气暖？
自有岁寒心。
可以荐嘉客，
奈何阻重深。
运命惟所遇，
循环不可寻。

徒言树桃李，
此木岂无阴？
张九龄（673年-740年），字子寿，号博物，韶州曲江（今广东韶关市）人。唐朝开元名相、政治家、文学家、诗人，被誉为“岭南第一人”。著有《曲江集》。
ZHANG Jiuling (673-740), styled Sir Longevity, Natural Science by literary name, a native of Qujiang, Shaozhou (present-day Shaoguan, Guangdong Province). A famous prime minister, politician, litterateur and poet of Kaiyuan period (713-741) in the Tang dynasty, he has been honored as the “First Prime Minister of Lingnan Region”. In South Land grows the tangerine;
All the winter its leaves shine green.
Is the soil so warm over there?
The tree by nature can cold bear.
Its fruit should good guests entertain,
But the valleys so deep remain.
One's chances his fate determine,
Like nature that ends to begin.
Peaches and plums are loved by all;
Can't this tree cast a shade at all?
